Creativity makes my mind whirl.  My heart soar.  My soul sing.

Have you arrived at that point in life where you realize that you can shine, both inside and out, whenever you please?  Just because you want to? Simply because you can.  And most importantly, because you are the boss of you?  Some days, your shine might be just the tiniest hint of a smile. Some days you might glow like an incandescent sun.

In the 1950’s, women used to buy a new tube of bright red lipstick to cheer themselves up.  For me, in the 1990’s, it was silver earrings.  Lots and lots of shiny silver earrings.  And then one day, finally, I realized that I like to shine on the inside even more than I do on the outside.

I must admit, that was a ridiculously long fought battle.  And while it is true that we don’t really experience light without dark, the dark sucks.  It was a turning point in my life when I understood that it really is just as easy to shine.  That life feels much better both inside and out when we decide to shine.  And that we get to choose when and where we shine.  There is much strength in that realization.

I have found making jewelry, for both myself and for other women who like to shine, to be the best therapy ever.  The process of sawing a smooth piece of silver is a Zen experience in and of itself.  Using fire to melt silver from a solid to a liquid feels powerful – a bit like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.  Certainly, a triumph of mind over matter.  Learning about the metaphysical properties of gemstones, their healing properties, and how they vibrate is fascinating.  Mystical.  Mind bending.  And hammering metal… well, need I say more?

As a recovering perfectionist, I put a great deal of thought and care in to each and every Silver Echoes design.  I use high quality materials during every step of the creating process.  Needless to say, as said recovering perfectionist, each and every detail is checked, double checked, and then checked once again.  I did say recovering, not recovered.

I am grateful for both my creativity, and for the wonderful gemstones and metals that fill my work space.  I infuse every piece I make with love and light before it is packaged up and sent off to its new home.  I haven’t yet gotten to the point where I name each piece.  Yet, although that time might be just around the corner.  But I do offer my designs, to all who aspire to shine, as a beacon of light.  After all, anything I can do to help you shine, is a gift to us both.

So, shine as only you can.

“We all shine on… like the moon and the stars and the sun.”
